INSURABLE? Preexisting condition information
Applying for individual and family health insurance successfully is
dependent upon your medical history including preexisting conditions.
Some of the most common causes of health insurance declines are listed
below. If you answer YES to one or more of the following questions, you
may not qualify for individual and family health insurance. All known
health conditions can have an effect on your coverage, and it's
important to disclose them to the agent.
1. Are you (or any person to be insured) either pregnant or an expectant
father?
2. Have you (or any person to be insured) been declined or rated up for
health insurance due to medical reasons within the last 5 years?
3. Have you (or any person to be insured) received any medical
consultation or treatment within the last 5 years for: heart disease,
diabetes, cancer, immune system disorders, or any other serious medical
condition?

insurance companies have varying policies as to whether or not they will
issue a new health insurance policy for people with these circumstances,
and we will be able to provide advice based on your specific medical
history.
STATE SPONSORED OPTIONS
You may wish to investigate some of the state sponsored options
available in Georgia. Often these high-risk pool alternatives can be
quite expensive, but may be appropriate for those whose medical history
makes it impossible to obtain health insurance in the private market. At
a minimum, federal law offers some protection for HIPAA-eligible
individuals (those who are leaving group health coverage they have had
for at least 18 months, have exhausted COBRA coverage, and meet other
requirements). Information for each state is available at

PEACHCARE FOR CHILDREN
PeachCare is a program in Georgia that is available to families based on
family income. PeachCare provides healthcare for children of parents who
qualify, but are not eligible for Medicaid. The program includes general
checkups, immunizations, dental and vision care, prescriptions,

MEDICAL DISCOUNT PROGRAMS (A non-insurance alternative) Care Entree
For those who are not able to get private health insurance or do not
qualify for a state-sponsored plan, a medical discount program may be a
good secondary option. These programs provide access to nationally
recognized networks of physicians, dentists, vision care specialists,
chiropractors, and pharmacies at discounted rates of up to 50%.
Acceptance into these programs is guaranteed, regardless of your medical
history. These programs are relatively inexpensive (typically $10-$65
